Sobre o evento

On October 22 and 23, 2025, the Presbyterian University Mackenzie will host the International Seminar “Fundamental Rights in Debate: Illicit Markets, Organized Crime, and Intelligence as a Strategic Response in the Global Scenario”, to be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online).

The meeting will bring together researchers, professors, jurists, and students to discuss, from an interdisciplinary perspective, key issues related to security, justice, and fundamental rights in the face of challenges posed by organized crime and corruption at both national and international levels.

The program will be organized into two Working Groups (WGs):

  • WG 01 – Illicit Markets and Organized Crime: analysis of the complexity and expansion of illicit markets, their political, economic, and territorial connections, and their social and institutional impacts.

  • WG 02 – Corruption and Fundamental Rights: debate on corruption as a structural threat to economic development and democratic institutions, including prevention, control, and accountability strategies.

Researchers and other interested parties may submit extended abstracts or full articles until August 30, 2025. Accepted and presented papers may be included in a book publication with an ISBN, increasing national and international academic dissemination.

The event is organized by the CNPq Research Group “Economic Criminal Law and International Criminal Justice” and is supported by FGV Analytics, which seeks to strengthen research and debates to improve public policies and the use of data and artificial intelligence in public security.
